Creating Momentum
With the End in Mind
Last time we discussed how to create Momentum and the necessity of celebrating it. But what if it’s a new day and you couldn’t get back in the vibe straight away because you had other things to do? Or what if you did have the time, but the break (of sleeping for instance), took away that vibe you experienced before, when “experiencing” momentum. What do you do?
Last we explored these options:
- Talk to others with a similar goal, your peers;
- Watch a motivational video;
- Start writing;
- Listen to a meditation with the goal to set an intent and next act on it.
Let’s explore some new ones. I’m going to start this time with the end in mind. How did you end?
Did you finish with some actions, or words to pick up where you left off? By leaving a “trail” it’s easier to pick up where you left off. You remember what you were doing and what was next on your mind to continue with, which makes it easier to continue with the next logical step. Each new step contributes to a new piece of the puzzle, completing your creation more and hence creating not only new Momentum, but possibly even a bigger Momentum. There’s nothing like being able to see the end result in sight.
What if that end result could be something smaller? A part which you could look at or read, like a blog or a video, something you can review and say about “I did this!” By giving yourself something to look at and/or listen to, you can actually celebrate what you have put out there, which will make it easier to pick up where you left off. The vibe surrounding your creation can easily be reconnected with, once you get to experience it.
If it would be a publishedblog or video or post, others would also have been able to respond to it. There’s nothing like other people cheering you on for Motivation. Especially if they were to tell you they want more of where that came from. By including others you can share your ideas and your thoughts, allowing others to give you tips and tricks, but also by giving them the opportunity to give you feedback and cheer you on.
So basically having a finished piece, however small and even when it’s not the final product, can have you reconnect with that previous feeling of Momentum, creating a new, even intenser feeling of Momentum.
Here’s a recap:
- Leave a trail, something to hold onto and help you pick up where you left off. How?
- Write down some actions you can do as a follow up;
- Write down some words to continue with what you had in mind when you stopped previously;
- Leave something tangible you can revisit or review. Something to go back to.
- Include others by making that tangible piece public and possible for others to find;
- Share your creation however small or huge, with others to get feedback and/or celebrate what you’ve accomplished.
Don’t forget to always Celebrate!!!
